Sébastien Laudenbach

Graduate and teacher at the Arts Decoratifs of Paris, Sébastien Laudenbach experiments with animation through sand, paper cut, volume and drawing. His experiments in the Ouvroir d’Animation Potentiel (Ouanipo) lead him to the cryptokinographic method (literally “hidden writing in the movement”), a process to represent the figure on the screen in the movement, where a single photogram can’t present it completely.

His free, spaced, flashing, colorful animation, free from storyboard, often improvised, bursting the shapes and colors to make them malleable, lives his feature film The Girl Without Hands, which he has drawn alone during 9 months. This film earned him the Jury Prize at the Annecy Festival in 2016.
