Roberto Catani

Biography

This Italian illustrator creates beautiful short films, in which the sensitivity of the artist’s style animates the characters which transform with an extroardianry fluidity to the rythm of music. He is known for his short movies The Gold Fish, The Festival and The Tightrope Walker, as well as Absent Minded which honored him with the Jury’s Grand Prize at the Ljubljana festival in 2013.

Exhibitions and editions

Selected several times at the illustrators’ exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, he collaborated on the magazine Lo Straniero (edited by Gofreddo Fofi), and for the Florentine publishing house Fatatrac. He exhibited at the “Art and Animation” meetings at the Museum of Modern Art in Turin (1998), at the Trevi Palace, at the Lincoln Center in New York, at the Tricromia gallery in Rome (2010), at the Galerie Franca Mancini in Pesaro (2014), or within the group exhibition Animami, at the Galerie Ca’Pesaro 2.0 ( Pesaro, 2015)
