Simon Rouby

Born in 1980, Simon Rouby began practicing painting, sculpture, and graffiti from childhood. He studied drawing for two years at the École Émile Cohl before training in animation filmmaking at the Gobelins School and later at CalArts in Los Angeles. His works have been selected in numerous international festivals. Adama, his first feature film, was nominated for the César Awards and the European Film Awards as one of the best animated films of the year in 2015.

In 2017, Simon Rouby was a resident at the Villa Medici in Rome, where the project Pangea was conceived. Subsequently, he was awarded from the Atelier des Ailleurs, a residency initiated by the Ministry of Culture – Directorate of Cultural Affairs of La Réunion and the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. He spent several months in the Kerguelen Islands, capturing numerous landscape images. His research also led him to Nigeria in June 2018.
