Georges Schwizgebel

Biography

Born in 1944 in Switzerland, Georges Schwizgebel is one of the great names in contemporary animation. Author of some 20 short films in animated painting, founder of the GDS studio in Geneva, he has won awards in Cannes, Annecy, Hiroshima, Ottawa… He has notably received the Crystal of Honor of the International Annecy Film Festival in 2017, as well as the Swiss Film Honorary Award in 2018.

His painted films are marked by a strong pictorial approach and the preponderant place of the music. His works have been exhibited in Stuttgart, Tokyo, Paris, Rome, Annecy, New York, Montreal, Brussels, Taiwan, Rio de Janeiro or Meknes.
